A New Home for the Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids and the Community
Minto Canada, with the support of the Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH), is proposing a new plan for 110 and 114 Maitland Street. In addition to the new market residential units that Minto will be introducing to the site, the Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health can look forward to a rebuilt facility that is flexible, modern, and culturally welcoming.
A Supportive Project

Minto Canada (Minto) is a real estate developer and the applicant for the Official Plan Amendment, Zoning by-law Amendment, and Draft Plan of Subdivision applications for 110 and 114 Maitland Street. Minto owns the 110 Maitland property, while the Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) owns and operates the building at 114 Maitland Street.
With the support of GH-CCMH, Minto is proposing to redevelop 110 and 114 Maitland Street into a 56-storey mixed-use building with institutional and residential uses. This project will provide much needed housing options, well-located by transit, retail, and services; and support the expansion of GH-CCMH’s facility space.
Institutional Uses:
- New GH-CCMH Office Space: 2,262 m2
Rental Residential Uses:
- Total Residential Units: 579
- Rental Replacement Units: 36
- Indoor Amenity: 1,158 m2
- Outdoor Amenity: 463 m2
- Parking: 9 vehicular visitor parking spaces
The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH- CCMH) is an infant, child and youth mental health provider integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH participated with SickKids and CAMH in a mental health collaborative to develop coordinated service access across three organizations, and are part of the Toronto Region infant, child and youth mental health core service providers group.
In assessing the needs of GH-CCMH’s clients and families long-term, it is realized that there will be significant capital pressures to maintain the existing aging building at 114 Maitland St. The office-based layout of GH-CCMH’s current building is out of step with current and anticipated approaches to mental health care. For these reasons, GH-CCMH have been exploring options for a new development: a flexible, more open-concept space that will allow for the accommodation of new treatment models and to work with hospital and community partners.
